What started as a practical approach to mentoring the youth population at a local juvenile detention center has led to a career in music and a worldwide mission. Lecrae has released eight albums, is the co-owner of Reach Records, and the author of his book, Unashamed. He’s quick to point out that he would like his music to reach people of all genres and not just Christians. “If someone feeds a homeless man, you don’t know why he’s doing it, but the homeless person still appreciates the food. People want to feel what you believe and not just hear it. So let’s talk about fatherlessness, let’s talk about incarceration. Let’s celebrate a relationship or a marriage or a child being born. Let’s talk about social issues,” Lecrae says. “Sure, I have a paradigm that I see the world through, but we all relate to those things and that’s where we connect.”

Young & Free
Hillsong Young & Free is from the youth ministry at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia—the same church behind Hillsong UNITED. They bring a new kind of pop-driven worship music aimed to appeal to a new generation—young and free! The band consists of worship leaders Laura Toggs, Melodie Wagner, Alexander Pappas, Taya Smith, Ben Tan, Aodhan King, and more.
“Young & Free is more than a label, it is also our message and mission to give voice to this generation and to give our youth an identity. God is calling a generation who will rise up, and who will know deep and unending joy in Jesus Christ.” says Laura Toggs, Hillsong’s youth pastor and team leader for Young & Free. “This is a generation called to stand strong in their youth and in their freedom, refusing to allow others to dismiss them for their age. Songs arising from Young & Free are unlike anything that we have ever done before, and we believe that through them young people will find life and deep, unending joy in Jesus. We are the voice of this generation.”
New Jersey-based gospel singer, songwriter, choir director, and multi-instrumentalist Tye Tribbett formed the ensemble Tye Tribbett & Greater Anointing, in the late ’90s. The group was asked to back country superstar Faith Hill on her tour in 2000, resulting in a flurry of appearances and recording work with everyone from Will Smith, Usher, and Mary Mary to Don Henley, Justin Timberlake, and Sting. Their first official recording, “Let Go, Let God” appeared on Dreamworks’ Prince of Egypt compilation in 1998
In 2010, Tye released his first album without Greater Anointing, simply titled Fresh. Now pursuing a solo career, he followed up in 2013 with the live offering Greater Than on the Motown Gospel label. It would prove to be a major success for Tribbett, earning him two Grammy Awards, including Best Gospel Album, in 2014. Today, Tye Tribbett exists as that radical entertainer who is shattering the mold of what is traditionally known as gospel music. With one of the most relevant voices of this generation and a sound that reaches the masses, Tye Tribbett creates a dynamic new caliber of music.
